Christina and Chad Massengill

Christina and Chad Massengill Christina Massengill combined cleaning houses with being a stay-at-home mom for young son, Chad. The very day he entered kindergarten, she entered Pamlico Community College in the Environmental Science curriculum. Husband and father, Ray, was and still is a commercial fisherman whose work is seasonal providing no health insurance or retirement. She realized the need to help provide more for her family.

Upon graduation, Christina was immediately hired as a water/wastewater operator for the town of River Bend near New Bern. Fourteen years later, Chad is enrolled in the same curriculum at Pamlico Community College. Christina's Environmental Science credits were accepted at another community college towards her second degree, Water Resources Management. She is now the Water Resources Public Works Superintendent for River Bend with a staff of three water operators and two public works employees reporting to her.

Chad, who would go fishing in the mornings on days off and help Christina in the afternoons at her job, is destined for a parallel path of success and growth that she has experienced.
