Pandora Dumas

Pandora Dumas Pandora Dumas, RN, BSN, will receive her MSN in May, 2009. Dumas got her career in nursing started at Montgomery Community College when she took the Nurse Assistant (NA) I and II classes. It was after her first class that the door to her future opened up.

Dumas was employed full-time immediately after completing her NA I class. She has been employed ever since, but she didn't stop there. She also served as a medic in the U.S. Army Reserves, began raising her family with husband, Maurice, and earned her associate degree in practical nursing from MCC, all while working full-time.

In 2005, Dumas earned her BSN and continues to earn impressive credentials in her field. She is charge nurse, education liaison and preceptor at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital. She also earned a national certification in medical/surgical nursing.

She credits MCC for giving her the opportunity to see what she could do with education. “I tell my children that they should take every opportunity. Even if they fail, they are better for having had the opportunity to fail than not having the opportunity at all. MCC gave me my opportunity. I'm not asking anyone to give me anything. Just open the door and I'll come in and get it myself.”
