Celestino Cristobal
Celestino Cristobal worked for 13 years in California before moving to North Carolina to look for new opportunities. It was then that he began to pursue his dream of becoming a U.S. citizen. He started by enrolling in the English as a Second Language classes at Montgomery Community College. After much encouragement from his ESL instructor, he began studying for his citizenship.
Celestino worked full-time and studied part-time for eight years. His instructor was called to active duty and served for a year in Iraq. Upon his return, Celestino had obtained his citizenship.
“I am thankful for the college that is available to the public. It is a place where everyone can learn and progress,” Celestino said. He says he hopes to become an example for others like him, who come to the United States seeking opportunity.
