Rhett Bolen
Rhett Bolen was no stranger to law enforcement when he enrolled in the Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) program at SPCC. In 2002, he decided to leave his job as a sergeant with the Riverside County Sheriff's Department in California and return to his hometown, Monroe. As the son of an Army officer, Bolen left Monroe after the fifth grade. His family finally settled in California where he graduated from high school and earned his associate's degree in liberal studies from Chaffey Community College.
Bolen's interest in law enforcement was sparked by a friend who was researching a career in retail loss prevention. Working in loss prevention allowed Bolen to test the waters before deciding to pursue a career in law enforcement.
When Bolen returned to Union County, he worked in manufacturing for six months before he was hired by the Wadesboro Police Department. Bolen had to become a certified officer in North Carolina, so the WPD sent him to SPCC to complete his basic law enforcement training. Today Bolen is a member of the Monroe Police Department.
