Meet Amy Taylor, a second year Medical Laboratory Technology student, who is involved with Service Learning at SCC.
“I was given an opportunity to assist the sweetest ladies at the Stanly County Health Department. We organized a Community Awareness Fair to target those who have lost their jobs. We wanted to be sure folks in the community knew about existing services that may help them while looking for employment,” explained Amy.
Amy is completing her clinicals at Anson Community Hospital for her MLT degree and says that the most rewarding part of her education will be when she graduates with Honors. Her advice to any potential student is to, “be very picky about when and what classes you take, because giving yourself a semester before the core classes start to take some of the “fluff-stuff” could really help you out in the long-run.
