Matthew Hook

Matthew Hook “You can do anything you set your mind to,” Matthew Hook tells his four sons. His actions support his words. Matt earned his diploma in auto body technology as he continued to work to support his family.

Forsyth Tech's flexible scheduling and financial aid made it possible.

“If it wasn't for the financial aid, there is no way I could go to school,” he said. Matt had thought he wasn't eligible for financial aid, but the head of the auto body program, Mark Walker, called him to talk about how he could pay for college.

“Mr. Mark Walker contacted me personally and got everything worked out for me,” Matt said.

The education he waited so long for isn't letting him down.

“The teaching was excellent,” he said. “Mark Walker and Alton Allen, who teach in the evening program, are great people. I think it's a great program, and a great place to go to college.”

“When you're 18 or 20 you really don't know what you want,” he said. “Then later you think you're too old. But you're never too old. My goal and dream is to work for myself.”
