Stephanie Hunt
Airman First Class Stephanie Hunt was born in Pusan, South Korea. She came to the United States when she was adopted at age 6. After graduating from high school she studied graphic design, but decided it wasn't what she wanted to do, so she enrolled in Montgomery Community College's dental assisting program. It was a long leap from graphic design to dental assisting, but it turned out to be the right leap. “Surprisingly, I love it,” Stephanie said.
Along with being a dental assistant, Stephanie said she wanted to do something different, so she joined the military. She says her education at MCC prepared her academically for the Air Force dental assisting training. “While I was at MCC, I got to do a lot of things that others in my [Air Force] class never got to do.” As a result, her classmates came to her when they needed help.
“Going through Air Force [dental assisting] school was like a refresher. I already knew what they were teaching,” she said. Stephanie is now completing her 15-month on-the-job training where she will assist dentists with every type of procedure.
AFC Stephanie Hunt took a chance at Montgomery Community College and discovered she could have a career with a difference.
