Jeremy Coffey

Jeremy Coffey When Jeremy Coffey first entered TCCC, it was a brand new environment for him.

"I was home schooled and never had the opportunity to work in groups or large classrooms with other students," he said. "I was an introvert with minimal social skills and did not have many friends."

That is not the case today. “After I graduated from TCCC, I transferred to Western Carolina University. However, when I entered WCU I was no longer that timid, introverted person any longer. My time at TCCC changed my life,” said Coffey.

Coffey credits English instructor Suzann Ledford for his transformation.

"She helped me blossom into the person I am today," he said. "Her vibrant personality and creative style of instruction showed me that I too can be social and outgoing."

Coffey ran for student government positions and learned to put himself out there in order to “overcome his fears.”

"TCCC taught me more than English, math and science; it was the foundation of the new me," he said.
