Emily Pichette
Emily Pichette is a student in the new Surgical Technology Program at CPCC. This cutting-edge program prepares graduates to function as vital members of the surgical team, assisting in the care of the surgical patient in the operating room. Students learn to prepare and use instruments, equipment, and supplies, maintain strict sterile technique, and assist surgeons during surgery. Graduates receive an associate's degree upon graduation and are eligible for national certification in surgical technology.
Students spend two years learning the theory and fundamentals of surgery and the unique role of surgical technologists. In addition, they spend time practicing their skills in a new state-of-the art surgical skills lab, and then applying those skills in real-world clinical settings, assisting and participating in actual surgeries in local hospitals. This new program joins the College's other excellent nursing and allied health programs in preparing professional, highly qualified and caring healthcare providers to meet the ever changing and growing healthcare needs of this community.
